The team previously has 20+ years of experience, participating in the design and implementation of numerous smart city projects.
Leeland Zhang, born and raised in Chicago, is the CEO of Spesland, an AI software company transforming smart city infrastructure maintenance and management. With a passion for integrating advanced technology into urban environments, Leeland leads Spesland in delivering innovative solutions that enhance city operations and improve the quality of life for residents.
Previously, Leeland has worked with smart city industrial experts to spearhead the development of smart city solutions. He has experience managing many international smart city projects, integrating multilingual support and security features. Collaborating with local partners, he developed smart crossing, smart irrigation, and smart restroom technologies.
Leeland's extensive experience in AI and smart city technologies drives Spesland's mission to revolutionize urban infrastructure management through cutting-edge solutions.
Michael holds advanced degrees in both Financial Engineering and Computer Science from prestigious institutions: MIT and Tsinghua University. With extensive experience as a Senior Data Scientist at Uber, Michael is now the CTO at Spesland. In this role, he leads a team dedicated to developing cutting-edge AI prediction models and data analytics solutions.
José Antonio Vazquez, born in 1968, is a French-Spanish national who graduated from ESCP-Europe in Paris and Harvard Business School.
He has over 25 years of leadership experience in the telecommunications, mining, power, transportation, and smart cities sectors. Since 2010, he has been actively transforming the business model of public lighting in Latin America, developing strong partnerships with technology and services players.
Today, José serves as CEO and board member of CITALYA, a financial holding that consolidates all smart cities contracts signed in Brazil.
Zachary McCoy is a Computer Science student at Northwestern University specializing in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Experienced in software engineering and data analytics through internships at Gallagher Insurance and Sleek Technologies, he is skilled in developing AI-driven solutions and implementing advanced algorithms.
Passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve complex problems, Zachary is committed to continuous learning and innovation in the rapidly evolving fields of AI and software engineering.
David Xu is a Computer Science student at Northwestern University, where he also serves as a teaching assistant. He is currently an AI Software Engineer on the Spesland team.
In the past, David was an Application Engineering Intern at Thrivent Financial and a Machine Learning Research Intern at Purdue University Indianapolis. He is passionate about building technology to assist smart cities in becoming more efficient and sustainable.
